What are the working conditions at Can Do Portugal like?

Can Do Portugal is a Portuguese company, so Portuguese employment law applies. We grant you 20 vacation days per calendar year plus contractual agreed public holidays. The holiday entitlement is 22 vacation days per calendar year in the 2nd year of employment. For shorter periods of employment the vacation entitlement is calculated proportionally. It is important to us to provide an environment in which our employees are treated fairly and can develop their potential. Of course, we also provide proper training in order to be able to do justice to the tasks set.

What kind of employment contract will I receive?

We offer indefinite contracts of employment with a probation period of 90 days.

What do I have to prepare before I start at Can Do Portugal?

Portugal is part of the EU. Entry and residence are therefore completely uncomplicated with EU citizenship. However, in order to work in Portugal, you need a NIF number (foreigner identification number or tax number) and a NISS number (social security number). We can take care of all administrative matters on request. It is important that you send us a certified copy of your identity card/passport at least 10 days before your start date. You can copy the document here directly at the post office. After the probation period, the amount of 23 € will be refunded. It is advisable to obtain a Portuguese prepaid card after your arrival, as it is sometimes required to apply for the social security number. 

What is the working environment like at Can Do Portugal?

We work in teams with 10-15 team members. A shared kitchen invites you to have lunch or a coffee with your colleagues. In our company, you can wear casual clothes and we like to celebrate our Birthday and Christmas parties together.

Am I insured during my employment?

By working with us and paying the social security contributions, you are insured by the state. You can use the services of the state clinics and the hospital free of charge. If you are interested, we also offer private heath insurance through Allianz Seguros, which is linked to Can Do Portugal as an employer. We cover 50 % of the costs. Costs depend on the age, on average our employees pay 15 € per month.

Do I need a work permit?

As an EU citizen, you do not need a work or residence permit in Portugal.
